What PhobiaBlock Does
PhobiaBlock is a Chrome extension that blocks phobia-triggering images on web pages. It works by scanning text metadata (alt text, filenames, surrounding text) associated with images and applying visual filters to matched content.
Data We Collect
None. PhobiaBlock does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- No browsing history is collected
- No images are sent to any server
- No analytics or tracking scripts are used
- No accounts or sign-ups are required
- No cookies are set by the extension
How It Works
All processing happens locally in your browser. The extension reads text metadata on the current page (image alt attributes, filenames, nearby text) and compares them against your configured keyword lists. No data leaves your device.
Data Storage
Your settings (enabled categories, custom keywords, blur preferences) are stored locally using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the extension.
Third-Party Services
PhobiaBlock does not use any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. The landing page (phobiablock.com) is hosted on Vercel and uses standard web hosting — no tracking cookies or analytics are used on the website either.
Children's Privacy
PhobiaBlock does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is safe for users of all ages.
